World Series Final Game Captures 51M Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total over 50 million watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match series drew 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US average was over 16 million. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
